Raptors suffer a scare in third straight victory

A back injury to Toronto backup guard Jose Calderon overshadowed the Raptors’ third straight victory without Chris Bosh.

Morris Peterson had 23 points and T.J. Ford added 21 points and 14 assists to lead the Raptors to a 120-115 victory Sunday over the Golden State Warriors at Toronto.

Calderon was removed on a stretcher and placed in a neck brace after injuring his lower back on a rebound. He was hurt with 32 seconds left, while blocking out Golden State’s Mickael Pietrus.

“He does have movement in all his limbs,” Toronto spokesman Jim LaBumbard said.

Calderon helped lead Spain to a gold medal at the world championships in September.

Rookie Andrea Bargnani had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots for the Raptors, six of whom reached double figures. The team improved to 3-2 without Bosh, its leading scorer, who has an injured left knee.

Monta Ellis scored 28 points for the Warriors.

Utah 104, Indiana 94 -- Carlos Boozer had 18 points and 11 rebounds and the Jazz held on at Indianapolis after blowing all but six points of a 21-point third-quarter lead.

Jermaine O’Neal had 31 points for Indiana, whose seven-game winning streak against Utah ended.

Detroit 97, Seattle 93 -- Forced into the rotation by Rasheed Wallace’s ankle injury, Jason Maxiell had career highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds and made a baseline jumper with 6.8 seconds left to help the Pistons at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Richard Hamilton scored 24 points for Detroit. Rashard Lewis scored 25 for Seattle.
