Norway gets royal treatment

JUST wanted to send praise for the article on Oslo [“Norway’s Grand Prize,” Nov. 26]. I thought Beverly Beyette did a good job of showing the many sides of Oslo’s cultural life, history and tourist attractions.
It is not often a foreign journalist takes such time to go in-depth. Having lived many years in the States, I have come across people who have never heard of Norway. One even asked if Norway was the name of a store at the local mall. (Of course, this was in Ohio
I’m glad she had a nice experience despite our god-awful prices and terrible traffic.

I just read your article about Norway, and I really liked it. It’s fun to read about my city from a foreigner’s perspective. In the summer when I am on holidays in the Mediterranean, I meet a lot of Americans. They ask where I come from, and I say “Norway.” They usually reply, “Oh, is that the capital of Sweden?”
I think most of the Americans think that Scandinavia is one country.
