An adventure at the Hotel Edison
AH, the Hotel Edison, where I spent many a New York City vacation and paid $25 per night [“Cheaper by the Dozen: Manhattan Treasures,” Nov. 26].
Yes, it was dreadfully tacky and outdated, but cheapo back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. It was fantastically well located, a hop, skip and jump to Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Plaza, etc.
I especially adored the round, red velvet seating in the lobby. I felt as if I were waiting for some dashing gentleman to come strolling in. Unfortunately, the only men then were not exactly gentlemen and weaving in would be more like it. But it was great fun and adventure.
