4,000-acre wildfire near the Grapevine nearly out

A wildfire that blackened more than six square miles of brushland in the Tehachapi Mountains was reduced to scattered pockets of flames, and rain could douse it completely, authorities said Saturday.
No homes were threatened, and no injuries were reported.
The 4,025-acre fire near Interstate 5 in Kern and Ventura counties was 80% contained after days of dry, gusty winds eased and humidity rose, said Kern County Fire Inspector Tony Diffenbaugh.
The blaze, which was sparked by a car fire Thursday night, spread west of the Grapevine.
