San Diego Freeway pedestrian is killed

A man walking on the San Diego Freeway early Friday was struck and killed by a car just south of Newland Street, authorities said.
His name was not released.
The accident occurred about 1:15 a.m. when the man was hit in the freeway’s northbound lanes.
The accident is under investigation, authorities said.
