Ripened and still red hot
Even back in the 1980s when they were rowdy upstarts blowing the roofs off Hollywood’s little rock clubs, the Red Hot Chili Peppers had a way of commanding attention, and things aren’t very different now that the band is an upstanding pillar of contemporary rock. The show goes down especially well in their hometown, where there’s an extra resonance in hearing music that was forged in Los Angeles and springs from the city’s fiber. They conquered at the Forum in 2003, and with songs from the new double album “Stadium Arcadium†to add to the set, their return figures to be even more memorable.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, with the Mars Volta, Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood. 7:30 p.m. today and Friday. $63.50 (Sold out). (310) 419-3100.
