Re “Despite Law, State Agency Slow to Post Nursing Home Data on Internet,†April 26
It’s outrageous that up-to-date information on the state’s nursing homes is not easily available online and elsewhere.
Without such information, a person has no way of knowing if an institution provides decent care or if neglect and abuse run rampant. We have a simple letter-grade system for restaurants in Los Angeles County; we should have the same system for nursing homes. They should be required to put their rating on the front door. The consequences of eating at a bad restaurant pale in comparison to the life-and-death horrors that can result in a bad nursing home.
