Jail Escapee Found Hiding in a Canyon
One of three inmates who escaped from a county jail in Otay Mesa has been captured without incident, officials said Sunday.
Mark Estrada, 18, who was being held on murder and attempted murder charges, was spotted by Border Patrol agents using night-vision equipment about 2 a.m. Sunday. He was hiding in a canyon near the jail, officials said.
Still at large are George Munoz, 31, being held on charges of child molestation; and Joe Morales, 24, held on charges of murder.
The three escaped Saturday afternoon from George F. Bailey Detention Facility, possibly by using wire cutters to cut through a fence in an outdoor recreation area.
