U.S. swap rates, the cost for borrowers to convert floating-rate debt to fixed rates, rose to nearly their highest levels in four years Wednesday after a report showed U.S. consumer prices in March had increased more than economists expected.
The 10-year U.S. swap rate climbed to 5.55%, up from 5.48% before the release of the report. The rate is just below the 5.6% reached April 14, which was the highest since May 2002.
