Villaraigosa to Give First State of the City Address

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is scheduled to deliver his first State of the City address at 5:30 p.m. today.
It will be televised on LA Cityview Channel 35 and webcast at www.lacity.org/stateofthecity. Speaking from the Accelerated School on Main Street downtown, the mayor is expected to discuss his plans for hiring more police, paying for them with higher garbage fees, trimming the city’s $270-million budget shortfall and revamping the public school system.
