6 million unaware they have diabetes
From Times wire reports
Nearly 21 million Americans have diabetes, most of them the Type 2 variety associated with poor diet, too little exercise and being overweight, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. More than 6 million of these people don’t know it.
An additional 41 million people are estimated to have pre-diabetes, which increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes can cause blindness, limb amputation, kidney disease and nerve damage as well as raise the risk for heart attacks and strokes.
