FTC Approves Sale of Gambro Unit to DaVita

DaVita Inc., a provider of dialysis services for kidney patients, said the Federal Trade Commission had approved its purchase of Gambro Healthcare Inc., with a requirement that it sell 70 dialysis centers.
DaVita expects to complete the $3.1-billion cash purchase of the U.S. unit of Stockholm-based Gambro early this month.
El Segundo-based DaVita must sell 67 dialysis centers within 10 days and three centers within 60 days of the completion of the acquisition.
