Recuperated Mary rejoins Peter, Paul
Mary Travers, the popular folk singer of Peter, Paul and Mary, will begin performing again next week after successfully undergoing a bone marrow transplant to treat her leukemia.
Travers has been making a steady recovery after undergoing the procedure in April. Doctors have told her that tests so far show no signs of the disease.
The trio, composed of Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey and Travers, will perform a holiday concert Dec. 9 in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. It marks their first performance since Travers was diagnosed a year ago with leukemia. The group is planning a dozen concerts next year.
Travers, now sporting short hair, said she does not know her donor yet but hopes to meet the person eventually. “My donor has a lifetime of free concerts to Peter, Paul and Mary,†she said.
