200-Pound Fish Blocks the Carpool Lane
From Times Staff Reports
A 200-pound frozen tuna caused a minor traffic jam Saturday morning on the San Diego Freeway.
“We don’t know how it got there. No one called in saying it fell out of a truck or anything,” a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said of the fish. It was reported about 11 a.m. in the northbound carpool lane just south of Beach Boulevard. “I guess it just swam there,” the dispatcher quipped.
CHP officers tied the fish to the bumper of a patrol car and pulled it off the road.
It was later disposed of by Caltrans.
