Aid Official Charged in Report Deemed False

Sudanese authorities have charged a humanitarian aid official with spreading false information in a report that said 500 women had been raped in the Darfur region, most of them by soldiers or members of government-allied militias.
Paul Foreman, head of the Dutch branch of Doctors Without Borders, was detained and questioned before being released.
A case was filed against him, and he was asked not to leave the country until interrogations are complete, Mohamed Fareed, a prosecuting attorney, said in a statement.
