Charlotte d’Amboise and Norbert Leo Butz were named recipients Friday of the 2005 TDF/Astaire Awards, given for the best dancing on Broadway.
D’Amboise, who filled in for the injured Christina Applegate during the Boston tryout of “Sweet Charity” and during a week of the revival’s preview performances in New York, will receive a special award for her “invaluable contribution to Broadway dance during the 2004-05 season.” She currently is starring in the long-running revival of “Chicago.”
Butz was named best male dancer for his role as Freddy Benson, a con man scamming wealthy ladies in the musical “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”
The awards, administered by Theatre Development Fund, will be presented June 14.
