From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The body of a Newport Beach man was found Tuesday floating 100 yards offshore near Pacific Coast Highway and Seapoint Avenue, authorities said Wednesday.
The body of Duane Clarence Meyer, 48, was discovered about 5 p.m. after a 911 call. Onshore, officers found a mountain bike as well as a black polo shirt, white socks with tennis shoes and black sunglasses.
The probable cause of death is drowning, but the case remains under investigation, a coroner’s spokesman said.
