Sony Plans Launch in 2006 for PlayStation 3

Sony Corp. said it would launch its next video game console, the PlayStation 3, in 2006.
Sony also said the PS3 and its custom-designed “Cell” chip would have twice the processing speed of the Xbox 360, the new console from Microsoft Corp. to be released this year.
Sony said the PS3 would play PS2 games. It also will feature a built-in Ethernet port, as well as two different types of wireless networking and a removable small hard drive.
