Again, Gun Control Is Not Part of the Debate
Re “10 Dead After School Shooting,†March 22: Once again we are all discussing a brutal high school shooting episode. Experts who consoled us following the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado are back in the news, advising us to monitor mood, emotions, alienation and behavior of young people so we can step in to prevent such an ugly event as occurred in Red Lake, Minn. And once again gun control is not part of the discussion. Even if there is no hope of changing the opinion of those who manufacture, sell, hoard, advocate and play with guns, a complete discussion among all of us who mourn such a tragedy might include changing laws if we all knew how easy it is for an alienated youth to obtain firearms.
