Robert Klitgaard, an expert in government reform and international studies, has been named president of Claremont Graduate University, effective July 1.
Klitgaard, 58, is being hired away from the Pardee Rand Graduate School in Santa Monica, where he is dean and a professor of international development and security.
Claremont Graduate University, part of the Claremont Colleges consortium, describes itself as the nation’s sole graduate-only university. It has 2,200 students in eight schools.
Klitgaard will succeed Steadman Upham, who left Claremont in July to be president of the University of Tulsa.
