The Prado museum in Madrid will go ahead with a major exhibit of works by German artist Albrecht Durer even though some pieces were sent without the necessary legal permits.
The much-anticipated exhibit featuring 87 drawings, paintings and prints by the Renaissance-era master, loaned by Vienna’s Albertina museum, will go on display March 8, the Prado said Tuesday.
Last week, Austria’s Cultural Affairs Ministry said that the Albertina museum had failed to file the proper paperwork before sending the art to Spain.
