Plane Returns to O’Hare After Small Knife Found
An American Airlines flight that had taken off for Rome returned to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago because a passenger found a small knife on board, an airline official said.
Flight 110 had been in the air more than an hour Saturday when the knife was found inside an airline-provided package containing a pillow and blanket, American spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said. The plane, a Boeing 767-300 with 199 passengers, returned as a security precaution, she said.
Fagan said the airline did not know how the knife got into the plastic-wrapped package.
