Riverside County D.A. Aide Arrested
A senior investigator for the Riverside County district attorney was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of spousal abuse and perjury, officials said.
The arrest is the second shock to the Indio office of Dist. Atty. Grover Trask in recent months.
In May, a senior investigator killed himself and five family members at his home in Garner Valley in the San Bernardino National Forest.
Luis “Tito†Bolanos, 44, of Cathedral City was arrested in his office. He is a 20-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at Riverside County Jail in Indio awaiting a court hearing this week.
Bolanos has worked at the Indio office for two years, authorities said. Trask declined to comment, saying it was a personnel matter.
The state attorney general’s office had been investigating Bolanos’ treatment of his wife, Jolie, for months.
Investigators could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
In an interview Wednesday, Jolie Bolanos said she told investigators that her husband bruised her arms in a September 2004 confrontation. She said he proceeded to make a series of false statements to get a restraining order and an order to have her removed from the couple’s home.
“He used his badge to make things up,†Jolie Bolanos said, adding that the couple had separated.
Luis Bolanos spoke at the May funeral of his colleague David McGowan, who shot to death his mother, his wife and their three children. McGowan, who left a suicide note, then shot himself.
