Manager Pay Ranges OKd, but With a Catch
From Times Staff Reports
Supervisors approved a new set of high-end pay ranges for government managers Tuesday, but said they would apply only if the board established a fund to pay for “exceptional performance†in each year’s budget.
The salary adjustments came as supervisors collapsed 132 management classifications into four.
The adjustments affect 850 managers, about 20 of whom will see their salaries rise slightly.
Supervisors delayed Sheriff Michael S. Carona’s request that lieutenants be paid more, saying he needed to justify the raise.
