A Town Hall Wedding to Keep Sanctity of Castle

Instead of marrying in the opulence of Windsor Castle, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will wed April 8 at their local town hall, as do thousands of Britons every year, Charles’ Clarence House office announced.
Under British licensing law, registering the castle as a wedding venue would have opened it to commoners’ weddings as well. Clarence House said holding the service in Windsor’s town hall, designed by Christopher Wren, also would allow the public to see the newlyweds arrive and leave, and would help to include the town in the day’s events.
