First-Time All-Stars Reign

Dwyane Wade, Manu Ginobili, Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis are first-time NBA All-Stars. Jason Kidd and Steve Francis were not chosen at all -- nor were any Sacramento Kings.

Six first-timers were among the selections Tuesday, when the NBA announced the reserves for the Feb. 20 game in Denver. Amare Stoudemire of Phoenix and Antawn Jamison of Washington were the other two.

The league’s coaches chose the reserves. Phoenix will send Stoudemire, Steve Nash and Shawn Marion, while Cleveland (LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas), Washington (Arenas and Jamison) and Seattle (Lewis and Ray Allen) will send two players apiece.

Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki completed the West team. The East’s other reserves are Detroit’s Ben Wallace, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal and Boston’s Paul Pierce.

The coaches are San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich and Miami’s Stan Van Gundy.
