New Mexico Retains Grip With Triple-Overtime Win
Dionne Marsh scored five of her 26 points in the third overtime to lead No. 18 New Mexico to a 79-77 victory over New Mexico State on Wednesday night at Las Cruces, N.M.
New Mexico (9-2) beat New Mexico State (2-7) for the 19th straight time.
Marsh forced the second overtime by putting back her own miss with one second left. A desperation three-point attempt at the final buzzer by Monique Bribiescas fell short.
Cecilia Russell-Nava led New Mexico State with 18 points.
No. 10 Michigan State 80, No. 16 Oklahoma 60 -- In a meeting of dominant post players, Liz Shimek had 25 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Spartans (7-2) past Courtney Paris (29 points, 12 rebounds) and the Sooners (9-3) at Norman, Okla.
No. 20 Texas 77, Texas A&M-Corpus; Christi 65 -- Ashley Lindsey had 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Longhorns (6-3) at Austin, Texas. Terra Andrews had 27 points for the Islanders (5-5).
No. 22 Utah 72, Eastern Michigan 67 -- Senior forward Kim Smith scored a season-high 29 points to lead the Utes (8-2) past the Eagles (4-5) at Ypsilanti, Mich.
Niki Knapp had 21 points for Eastern Michigan.
No. 23 Boston College 101, Niagara 49 -- Brooke Queenan scored 20 points at Boston to help the Eagles (10-2) finish with the largest first-half point total (55) and biggest margin of victory in school history. The Purple Eagles are 1-8.
