Cameron’s Effort Carries the Trojans

Brynn Cameron tied her career high with 20 points and tied her USC record with six three-point baskets to lead the Trojans to a 72-62 victory over Oregon State on Tuesday in their Pacific 10 Conference opener at the Lyon Center.

USC (7-3, 1-0) trailed, 38-36, at halftime but went on a 7-0 run to start the second half and never trailed again. The Trojans later made six straight three-pointers -- four from Cameron and one each from Eshaya Murphy and Jamie Hagiya.

Anita Rivera led Oregon State (6-2, 0-1) with 19 points.

UCLA 82, Oregon 63 -- Noelle Quinn scored 16 points and Nikki Blue added 15 as the Bruins (5-4, 1-0) shot 51.5% in ending the Ducks’ seven-game winning streak in a Pac-10 opener at Pauley Pavilion.

Carolyn Ganes led the Ducks (8-1) with 15 points on seven-for-10 shooting.

MEN

UC Santa Barbara 67, Sonoma State 66 -- Cecil Brown made a pair of three-pointers in the final 50 seconds, including the winner at the buzzer, to rally the Gauchos (4-4) past the Seawolves (4-4) at Santa Barbara.

Alex Harris inbounded the ball to Brown in the right corner with 1.8 seconds left for the decisive three-pointer.

Cameron Goettsche led the Gauchos with 21 points and Brown finished with 18. J.T. Tipton had 13 points for the Seawolves.
