The rise of the South was one of the best things this year. But it could be a good and a bad thing. The bad part about it was, not all the music coming out of the South was quality music. It was real simple. It wasn’t as complex as I personally like music to be.
You don’t have a lot of cats from the South that’s pushing the envelope and trying to do something other than what they’ve been doing before. At the same time, they did get the light and we still get the light. I’m not saying everybody was bad. I’d just like to see more people participate in Southern music -- take it to another level.
The worst thing is that we couldn’t get the OutKast album out this year. So 2006 is going to be the year of OutKast.... The music sounds great to me so we want everybody to hear it as soon as possible. The best thing is, I started my new label, Purple Ribbon Entertainment, I put out my new album, “Got Purp: Volume Two†in stores now, doing good with that “Kryptonite†for sure!
