Motorist Hurt When His Car Hits MTA Orange Line Bus

A man suffered what appeared to be minor injuries Tuesday evening when his sedan struck an MTA Orange Line bus -- the eighth such crash in seven weeks on the new 14-mile busway in the San Fernando Valley, officials said.
The accident occurred about 6 p.m. where Kester Avenue intersects the Orange Line, said Dave Sotero, an MTA spokesman.

Orange Line -- An article in Wednesday’s California section about a crash on the Orange Line busway said Tuesday’s accident was the eighth crash in seven weeks. It was the seventh crash in seven weeks.
Witnesses said the unidentified driver of the Dodge Intrepid ran a red light and struck the bus, which was traveling about 5 mph at the time. He declined to be transported to a hospital, Sotero said.
After the Orange Line’s most serious accident sent 14 people to hospitals Nov. 2 -- mostly for minor injuries -- the MTA slowed buses to 10 mph through intersections. They also began equipping buses with strobe lights. City traffic engineers added some signs at intersections and lowered others to make them easier to see.
