A New York Stock Exchange seat sold for a record $3 million Wednesday, surpassing the mark set near the height of the 1990s bull market. The price of a seat, or membership, rose by $400,000, or 15%, from the last sale July 15. The previous record of $2.65 million was set Aug. 23, 1999.
Prices have surged 85% since April 20, when the NYSE announced plans to acquire an electronic exchange and become a public company.
