Re “History Is Gone With the Rain,” March 31: The sad experience of Gary Leonard, whose memorabilia of the history of Los Angeles were destroyed in the recent rains, illustrates the advisability of lending personal material of public interest to museums and other repositories where it can be studied by scholars and admired by the public, thus making it of value to the widest possible audience.
