Hill’s Scoring Passes Lead Marshall, 33-25
Stan Hill threw three touchdown passes Wednesday night to lead Marshall to a 33-25 Mid-American Conference victory over Miami (Ohio) at Huntington, W.Va.
Marshall (1-3, 1-0) avoided its first 0-4 start in 35 years. Miami (2-3, 1-1) lost to Marshall for the sixth time in seven meetings, the exception a 45-6 home victory last season.

Winless North Texas has lost running back Patrick Cobbs, the NCAA’s leading rusher and scorer last season, for the rest of this season because of sprained ligaments in his left knee.... A judge in Denver set a May 31 date for the federal lawsuit filed against the University of Colorado by former student Lisa Simpson, who said she was raped by players or recruits at an off-campus party in 2001.... Western Illinois defensive back William Penn and defensive lineman Michael Black were each charged with residential burglary in Macomb, Ill. Both players were suspended from the team.
