Jury Returns Death Verdict for Murders of 3 Brothers
A jury returned a verdict of death Friday against 23-year-old Craigen Armstrong for the murders of three brothers in Inglewood in 2001.
Michael and Torry Florence were fatally shot Sept. 30, 2001, as they tried to investigate their younger brother Christopher’s death three days earlier. The jury deliberated 2 1/2 days before deciding that Armstrong should receive the death penalty for the murders. The same Superior Court jury in Los Angeles convicted him of three counts of first-degree murder last month.
The jury foreman, Robert Hollingsworth, said he couldn’t imagine the pain the Florence family has gone through in the last three years.
The boys’ mother, Brenda Florence, said she felt relieved. She said, “I’ve waited a long time for this day to come.â€
