Concession Ends Prison Uprising

An uprising by about 800 gang members at two Salvadoran prisons ended peacefully after the government promised to study inmates’ complaints about arrest practices and prison conditions.
About 100 relatives and friends visiting the prisons in Chalatenango and Cojutepeque had been prevented from leaving when the riot broke out. They left the next day.
