Taurasi Leads Mercury Past Comets, 70-60
The Phoenix Mercury improved its WNBA playoff chances with a 70-60 victory Friday over the Comets at Houston.
The victory pulled Phoenix (14-13) into a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. It also lifted the Mercury 2 1/2 games ahead of the sixth-place Comets (12-16), who have only six games left in the regular season.
Diana Taurasi led Phoenix with 27 points.
Sheryl Swoopes’ 18 points topped Houston, which missed its first nine shots.

Connecticut 61, New York 43 -- The Sun (14-15) moved into a three-way tie for second place, one game behind the Eastern Conference-leading Liberty (14-13) with the victory over New York at Uncasville, Conn. Katie Douglas led Connecticut with 13 points and helped limit New York’s Becky Hammon to two points, 11 below her average.

Indiana 69, Minnesota 61 -- Kelly Schumacher had 13 points and nine rebounds to lead the Fever (14-15) past the Lynx (16-12) at Minneapolis.
