Abandoned Newborn Placed in Foster Home
A newborn boy found in a trash bin was released from a hospital Friday and placed in a foster home, authorities said.
Sheriff’s investigators continued searching for the boy’s mother. They believe that hours after his birth, she abandoned him in a trash bin at an apartment complex on Paseo Carolina sometime Tuesday.
She could face charges of attempted murder, authorities said.
The 6-pound, 3-ounce baby was found in a trash bag with his umbilical cord. A second trash bag was wrapped around his neck.
He was found by a 71-year-old woman from Mexico City who said she had heard him crying.
