Wheelchair Is Hit by Car; Man Dies

A man in an electric wheelchair was struck and killed Wednesday while crossing a street near Cal State Fullerton, police said.
The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. as the 25-year-old Fullerton man was in a marked crosswalk on Nutwood Avenue near Titan Drive. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died several hours later.
The man’s name was not released pending notification of relatives. Police did not know if he was a student at the college.
The driver involved was not cited and is cooperating with authorities, said Sgt. Craig Brower, a spokesman for the Fullerton Police Department. The accident remains under investigation, he said.
