Death Valley road reopens

Badwater ROAD, the main access to Death Valley, reopened Friday as did Texas Springs and Sunset campgrounds at Furnace Creek.
The mile-long Golden Canyon hiking trail and Devil’s Golfcourse are open, though other hiking trails in the area remain closed, including Artist Drive Road.
Summer flash floods closed Highway 178 near Shoshone, limiting access to the park’s southern end. Flash floods buried up to 11 miles of road and killed two people on Highway 190 between Furnace Creek and Death Valley Junction. It will remain closed for repairs.
