A third victim of West Nile virus has been discovered in Orange County, officials said Friday.
The 70-year-old man, who was not identified, developed encephalitis and died last month from the mosquito-borne virus, said Howard Sutter of the Orange County Health Care Agency. Notification confirming the death came Thursday from the state Department of Health Services, he said.
At least 20 deaths related to West Nile virus have been confirmed throughout the state, he said, adding that 59 West Nile cases have been confirmed in Orange County.
