EADS Buys Racal for Up to $130 Million

European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co., the parent of aircraft maker Airbus, has acquired U.S. military electronics company Racal Instruments Inc. for as much as $130 million.
Racal Instruments, whose U.S. headquarters is in Irvine, has more than 320 employees. The company makes systems and instruments for the testing of electronics, aerospace and defense systems.
EADS said the purchase was part of its effort to carve out a larger share of the U.S. defense market.
