Sirius Gets Basketball, English Soccer Rights

Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., the second-biggest pay-radio service, bought the rights to broadcast the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s college basketball tournament for the next three years.
Sirius said it also would air English Premier League soccer matches for the next three years starting with the current season. The Premier League includes Britain’s 20 top soccer clubs.
The company didn’t say what it would pay under the agreements.
Sirius has reached deals in the last year to spend at least $720 million for programming, including Howard Stern’s talk show and National Football League games.
Shares of Sirius rose 18 cents to $6.69 on Nasdaq.
