All They Want Is the Best Use of the Land
Regarding the article on the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank garden (“Green Dreams,” by Emily Green, Oct. 31), my constituents may disagree about gardens versus parks, but they are united in seeing the land use of this property enhance the value of the neighborhoods in which they live and work. The attempt to polarize them and demean several people on both sides, including a great community advocate such as the late Juanita Tate, is unforgivable.

I grew up on a farm in the Midwest and have had a community garden for more than 20 years. Never have I seen anyone waste water like the farmer working in one photograph. I hope the city is charging these gardeners a tidy sum to cover the cost of water and perhaps will hold classes to instruct these people in wise gardening methods.
