Re “Subtle Lessons in Reading, Writing and Rigidity,” Commentary, Nov. 16: Hope Edelman trumpets the great virtues of seeing the world from a “shades of gray” perspective, and she attacks the black-and-white perspective. If she truly wants to see things from an all-inclusive perspective, she should include black and white as well as gray.
