Illness cancels ‘Christmas’ tour
The serious illness of a cast member has forced the presenters to cancel a tour of Georgian playwright Rezo Gabriadze’s absurdist drama “Forbidden Christmas or The Doctor and the Patient,” which had been scheduled to run Dec. 8 to 12 at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse as part of UCLA Live’s International Theatre Festival.
Actor Gregory Mitchell, 52, who had been appearing in the play alongside famed dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov (in an acting role), suffered a heart attack during a Nov. 11 performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and, according to a UCLA Live representative, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Ticket holders can call (310) 825-2101 for refunds or to exchange their reservations for another UCLA Live event.
