South El Monte Couple Killed in Plane Crash
A small plane that vanished on a weekend flight from El Monte to Lake Havasu, Ariz., was found crashed Wednesday near the Colorado River, and both people aboard were dead, authorities said.
The dead were identified as pilot Robert Caron, 54, and his girlfriend, Catherine Holt, 38, both of South El Monte. Caron, owner of a trucking business, was the plane’s owner, said police Det. Henry August.
The plane was found eight miles west of Lake Havasu, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Donn Walker.
It was discovered shortly after another small aircraft was found near Perkinsville, Ariz., he said. That plane carried three people, all of whom were killed, Walker said.
