Latvia Replaces Its EU Nominee

Latvia dropped a controversial nominee to the European Union Commission as the body’s president-elect, Jose Manuel Durrao Barroso, continued reshuffling his proposed commissioners to overcome European Parliament objections.
Latvia replaced nominee Ingrida Udre, who was wary of European political integration, with former Finance Minister and EU envoy Andris Piebalgs.
