Grandson Held After Woman Is Found Dead
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering his grandmother after telling authorities that he found her dead in the home they shared.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies found the body of Elvira Diaz, 78, shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday in the 40600 block of 171st Street East.
The grandmother appeared to have suffered blunt trauma to her upper body, said Deputy Josie Woolum.
After questioning grandson Leonel Moncada, detectives booked him on suspicion of first-degree murder, Woolum said.
Moncada was being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
