A Dedication Ceremony?
Dedication, a 5-year-old mare who is a winner of seven of 19 races, will try to beat males in today’s $100,000 Jaipur Handicap at Belmont Park. The race is part of a pick six with a carry-over of $524,997.
Owned by Ghislaine Head and trained by Christophe Clement, Dedication will be making her fifth start at four different tracks in 2004.
A winner at Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct and second at Santa Anita earlier this year, Dedication will be returning to a Belmont turf course where she won on Oct. 13.
The 3-5 favorite against six fillies and mares going six furlongs, she won by 2 1/4 lengths under jockey Edgar Prado, who will be aboard the gray after a two-race absence.
In the Jaipur, a Grade III at seven furlongs, Dedication will be opposed by Multiple Choice, who will be making his first start on the lawn, Great Notion, He’s Crafty, Banned In Boston, Unswept, Lismore Knight and California shipper Geronimo.
