Democracy Triumphed

Just a short note to express my most sincere rejection and profound dislike of the political cartoon by Michael Ramirez published by The Times on March 16 (Commentary). This cartoon identifies the triumph of democracy and civic values that was conveyed by the general elections in Spain on March 14 with the triumph of terrorism and violence. Such an interpretation is as far from reality as it is distasteful and, furthermore, it implies a gratuitous offense to the Spanish people, whose defense of democratic values and rejection of terrorism nobody can question.
